pages in her world

a new friend

i made a new friend today. =)

it's amazing how we got to become like we've known each other for years in a couple of hours.
after work. she was looking like some lost soul needing directions to the mrt station to get to her inn from terminal 1. and having the comical face yes she approached me.

hee. and so coincidently we were going the same direction! =) being GIRLS we of cos began talking. and got along so well i ended up sending her to her inn. and bringing her around. all this after work. imagine!

yukari's her name.
a 22 year old Japanese who's now back-packing her one and half months holiday before she returns back to school in australia.

i envy her.

she's all alone! with only one backpack and a sling. plus a really cool cowboy hat. and sharing a dorm at a backpacker's inn, intending to explore on her own with a guide book and a few relevant maps. she has no laptop with her. so it's probably hard for her to keep in constant contact with others. but she does have a small snoopy address book where she pens down all the addresses of her friends and family.

so independent. and free.

sometimes dun u wish u had nothing that linked u with anyone u noe when u are traveling?
no handphones laptops internet nothing.
just the old fashioned pen, paper, address book and postcards. plus the dslr.
u can contact pple but they cant contact u.
and having it this way makes pple wait in more anticipation for ur greetings.
gadgets bring reality back to you.
urgh. an ugly thought.

everything u'll come into contact with is totally new and not connected with something or someone familar in any way.

that is what i call real traveling.
meeting new people. and getting exposed to new things.

just you and the big big world.
