a good heart-to-heart

4 roomies had a talk today. for 4 whole hours. yes till 4 in the morning.
they just sat around in a circle, comfortable in their individual laze around positions and blabbered on. with occasional slices of walnut bread and wang wang crackers.
they talked about everything.

the love for korean utensils and small appetizers, sashmi careers, bak kut teh, roast, hawker centres - they all uninamously decided the east is the best place to eat. plus themed cafes and restaurants - the clinic, theatrical themed restaurants (i would so wish to visit one someday but apparently there's none left in singapore =( ) etc.

marriage and love. wanting to have or not to have kids. for the fear of not being able to provide for them, give them a good education, discipline them well.
"wad if they grow up not wanting to study or not being able to cope with the current education system or mix around in the wrong company?" valid concerns. that and having a spouse who's at least 5-20 years older too. i guess we're all perfectionists in someway or another.
we dun mind how other people's children are, but our's cant. no way.

children nowadays. how parents are unable to control them and how lucky they are to always have the latest gadgets to play with on demand when our's only came as rewards for good marks at school. how the education system is screwing itself up by giving in too much to the whims of the parents. imagine a kid not understanding the simple use of past and present tenses nor the concept of bread and butter that always has to be put together. it's sad.
20 years down the road, now we know the value of our parents' nagging and all those assessments we had to put up with.

homosexuality too. the idea of lesbianism. with the guy-girl and the girl-girl. tell me u dun wan a guy cos u hate the idea of men and their sexuality. yet u go and look for a guy-girl who resembles a guy and uses something similar to satisfy ur sexual needs. it does not make sense.
it's true. it contradicts.
but at least we know we all lurve boys. men.

poverty in third world countries. we absolutely cannot bear to see. children living in slums begging for money out in the cold. i would give it to them. we all would. it's just so depressing. when u give a little girl a teddy bear and she starts crying cos she does not know wad it is.
we're fortunate people. we know it and we're thankful.

all is agreeable that PDA is a no-no in singapore. cos the scene just does not fit. i can imagine kissing a loved one in Paris in front of the eiffel tower in winter under a umbrella in thick long coats and boots. or even the notion of putting ur hands into ur love's pockets while strolling along the country roads in Europe. so sweet. =) but doing all that while walking along bugis street or orchard road? yikes.

literature students. we just manage to crap about anything and everything.
it's interesting. i like heart-to-heart conversations.
